The Vermeer D6 is the smallest in the IC fleet of Horizontal Directional Drills. The HDD uses a conventional drilling system which transmits mechanical power from the rotation unit and feed boom, through the drill rods to the drill head. The D6 is extremely compact and can be positioned into some of the tightest set up areas available. The drill can drill through a wide variety of ground condition including dirt, clay, sand & soft shale. It is ideal for installing conduits to a distance up to 80 metres, depending on the ground conditions and product to be installed. The drill uses 1.8 m long rods.
The Vermeer D6 uses a Digitrak Mk III system to locate the drill head while drilling. This allows the drill head to be track at a maximum depth of approximately 20 metres deep. Along with a mixing system attached to the support truck ensures that the Vermeer D6 is a self sufficient unit able to complete a project with only minimal support.

The JT1720 is the smallest in the IC fleet of Horizontal Directional Drills. The HDD uses a conventional drilling system which transmits mechanical power from the rotation unit and feed boom, through the drill rods to the drill head. The JT1720 can drill through a wide variety of ground condition including dirt, clay, sand, shale and some sandstone. The drill head can be fitted with a conventional bill or a rock head (Talon Bit). The rock head gives the machine the ability to drill through some sandstone formations while still achieving some steer. It is ideal for installing multiple conduits to a distance up to 150 metres but can complete projects up to a maximum of 200 metres, depending on the ground conditions and product to be installed. The drill carries 132 metres of 3 m long rods and is fitted with an automated rod loading system.
The JT1720 uses a Subsite 750 Tracker and beacon to locate the drill head while drilling. This allows the drill head to be track at a maximum depth of approximately 7 metres deep. Along with a mixing system attached to the support truck ensures that the JT1720 is a self sufficient unit able to complete a project with only minimal support.

The 2720 All Terrain system is designed to steer and back reamer through virtually any type of soil over a distance of up to 200 metres. This includes the ability to drill not only rock, but through cobblestone, broken rock, gravel and caliche. To achieve this ability the machine is equipped with an advanced dual-drive Power Pipe system. This unique shaft within a pipe system features a strong hex shaped rod which turns inside an outer pipe. The inner hex shaft works as a mechanical motor that drives the bit during the bore, the outer pipe thrusts the bit forward, steers the drill string and works to transmit full machine torque during back reaming. With only minimal water flow (7-15 gpm) required to operate the drill bit when in rock, the chance of a frac-out is remote compared to other machines requiring the use of a mud motor which needs 80 gpm plus to achieve a result.
To enhance its advanced rock system, the 2720 AT is also fitted with a highly productive cruise control feature which once set to the ground conditions can maintain desired thrust, pullback and rotation settings. Along with a fully automated rod loading system containing 98 metres of on board rods (additional rods available) makes this a very compact and self contained machine. The 2720 AT will also be used in conjunction with a new mud recycling system which holds up to 1200 gpm. This unit will allow the water used down the hole to be recycled over the duration of the project making this a very environmentally friendly set-up.

The JT4020 is one of our medium size drills in our fleet of HDD machines. With the ability to take on the longer and harder projects, the JT4020 is a real work horse. Achieving projects up to 400 metres long including the installation up to ten conduits in the same hole is no problem. Major river crossing, multi-lane highways, following a winding road deep into a valley or just working in the heart of suburbia is all in a days job. The JT4020 is also comfortable in all ground conditions including sand, clay, shale and all types of rock. This is due to the ability to drill with conventional means or with a mud motor. The HDD carries 144 metres of on board rods along with several hundred metres on the support vehicle.
When drilling with the mud motor a mud recycler is also placed on site. The recycling system cleans the returned slurry, allowing the liquid phase to be reused and discards the cuttings. It allows us to reuse our water thus keep water waste to a minimum. All these additions allow us to have a very clean and efficient work site.
